There are two parts of the HiSET Writing Test: multiple choice and essay writing. There are three parts of the preparation process: preparing for the (1) multiple choice and (2) essay parts of the test and as well as (3) planning your time management in advance so that you leave time for both.
Checklist
Use the checklist to prepare for the multiple choice portion of the test. I have provided two columns for checks. If you want, you can use one to make sure you have looked the rules up or know what they are, and the second column to check that you have reviewed them again.

The rules of writing (grammar, capitalization, punctuation) have changed very little over time. Some of these will go quite quickly, others will take longer or be more challenging. You are always welcome to email me questions or set up office hours if that would be useful.
Once you have the checklist, you can:
- Become more familiar with grammar by reading!
- Use any GED, HiSET or grammar books you have access to and/or the Internet to learn or review the rules.
- Use the QUILL program
- Ask me questions
